Sam Brown to release lost classic '43 Minutes' as remastered vinyl LP for first time
OUT 4th DECEMBER 2026 (VIA POD MUSIC)AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER NOW AT misssambrown.com ON TWO EXCLUSIVE NEW FORMATS -STANDARD BLACK VINYL LP & SPECIAL EDITION BONE COLOURED VINYL LP (WITH ART PRINTS)

Sam Brown hit the ground running in 1988, with her smash hit single “Stop!” reaching No.1 in five countries, and her debut album of the same name selling an incredible 2.5 million copies worldwide that same year. But the release of her third studio album, ’43 Minutes,’ came at the end of an intensely turbulent period for the much-loved British singer/songwriter. Written and recorded in 1991 as her mother (acclaimed vocalist Vicki Brown) was dying from cancer, Sam had to resist intense record company interference, refusing to compromise on what stands today as her strongest, most deeply personal recorded statement. Ultimately leaving her record label (A&M) over the row, ‘43 Minutes’ was only given a limited CD release twelve months later via her own label, Pod Music, as she quietly retreated to an old schoolhouse in Scotland to bring up her young family. As Sam explains, "My mum died in June 1991. While she was ill I started writing ‘43 Minutes’ and felt very strongly that I should follow my own vision for the album and not compromise artistically in order to satisfy the predictable record company expectations. I spent the best part of a year sitting at my piano, writing and, I suppose, grieving. In retrospect the album was a kind of therapy, but what I couldn’t foresee was the positive effect it would have for people who could relate to my experience through the music.”A more consistently crafted whole than its poppier predecessors, ‘43 Minutes’ is a beautiful record that understandably focusses on themes of love, life and loss. The video clip for the only single taken from the album, ‘Fear of Life,’ featured a heavily pregnant Sam. An impressive line-up of friends and musicians contribute to the album, including Herbie Flowers, Tony Newman, Jody Linscott, Pete Brown, Joe Brown, Paul Bangash, Julian Stringle, Margo Buchanan and Danny Schogger.Recorded at Townhouse 3 Studio in London’s Goldhawk Road and mixed at Ridge Farm in Surrey, the album’s original intended full title was "43 minutes... of music... for you..." Sparsely orchestrated, at times with just Sam on piano as the only accompaniment to her vocals, this was the feel required for such an intense, intimate subject matter. Here was a record that saw an artist at the absolute top of her game, reclaiming her own personal destiny despite the huge challenges faced in recent months. Even the front cover illustration of an empty room was drawn by Brown herself."43 Minutes is the first album that really represents me," she says. "It's not directly about my mother's death, but it is a whole piece and very fierce. Pete produced it and I basically said, 'Don't change anything, this is how it is.' It really homed in on what I thought, what death chucks up at you. So many people go through that experience and you're not supposed to talk about it. Well, how the fuck are you supposed to deal with it if you can't talk about it?"’43 Minutes’ (like most of Sam’s recorded material) was produced by her brother Pete Brown - Pete himself remastered the album in 2018 for a briefly available CD reissue. The album has never previously been issued on vinyl and was only recently made available via streaming platforms – Pete’s 2018 remaster is the version that features on this forthcoming first ever vinyl LP release. This new 2026 remastered vinyl LP edition of ’43 Minutes,’ released via Sam’s own Pod Music imprint, includes a newly-unearthed early version of ‘Fear of Life,’ previously unreleased until now.The album will be available on two new formats – as a standard black vinyl LP and also as a strictly limited special edition LP on bone coloured vinyl, complete with six bonus art prints featuring watercolours painted by Sam at the time of recording in 1991.’43 Minutes’ 2026 remastered vinyl LP - album tracklisting;Side 1

FISCHERSPOONER ARE BACK!
Demon Records partner with New York art pop trailblazers for series of special releasesHot pink LP ediiton of duo's seminal '#1' album will be released for Record Store Day Black Friday 2026Listen to the album ‘#1’ here.

Demon Records have just announced they are to partner with pioneering New York art pop duo Fischerspooner on a new series of very special reissues, beginning with a hot pink vinyl LP edition of the album that started it all: #1.#1 includes "Emerge,” one of the most important synth tracks of the new millennium, with 28 million streams on Spotify alone, but there's much more here: a stunningly beautiful Wire cover version, glitchy techno, ambient detours, wit, sensuality, and a fixation on identity and image that reads very differently in the social media age.#1 was reviewed in the Village Voice as a conceptual artwork before it was reviewed anywhere as pop, subsequently being regarded as one of the defining records of its era.Unavailable brand new on vinyl since the turn of the century, original copies of the duo’s 2001 debut album now change hands for serious money. This new hot pink vinyl LP edition of #1 will be released on 27th November 2026 for this year’s Record Store Day Black Friday and exclusively available from participating stores. A list of participating Record Store Day UK outlets is available here, whilst the appropriate Record Store Day US store locator is here.Fischerspooner, classically-trained musician Warren Fischer and performance artist Casey Spooner, started life in 1998 as a New York art project with a self-published artist statement/manifesto, a cast of dancers, costumes, special effects and a plan to see just how far spectacle and artifice could go.“Fischerspooner started in 1998 as an experiment incorporating music, image, and performance to explore what entertainment was and could be,” explains Warren. “Sincere and absurd, I'm excited #1 is coming back on vinyl with Demon, so people can hear it again on its own terms, twenty-five years later.”“It’s exciting that all our creative work and history is being carefully preserved,” adds Casey. “To have all these ideas gathered in one place and properly archived is a huge gift. There’s so much more that hasn’t been seen and amazing stories yet to be told.”Demon Music Group are also pleased to reveal today that a comprehensive box-set is planned as part of their celebration of Fischerspooner’s catalogue, scheduled for release in spring 2027.Adrian Sear (Commercial Director – Demon Music Group) says of the new partnership; “As one of the most creative and groundbreaking artists of the noughties, it was my privilege to be able to sign the Fischerspooner catalogue to the Demon family. Working together with Casey and Warren, Demon will enhance their profile and their reputation for their fans and the new generation of followers to come.“Ben Stanley (Head of Product, Marketing & Licensing - Demon Music Group) adds; “We are really excited to welcome Fischerspooner to the Demon roster. We already have some fantastic catalogue initiatives planned over the next few years, and we look forward to working closely with Casey and Warren.”Famously remixing artists such as Kylie Minogue and The Killers, Fischerspooner would release four albums of trailblazing electronic music across their two decade career via labels as diverse as International Deejay Gigolos, Ministry Of Sound, Capitol Records, Serotonin, Ultra and Kitsuné. The New York duo’s fourth (and final) 2018 album Sir was co-written and executive-produced by R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe. As an electronic pioneer and queer icon, Casey Spooner has famously (and consistently) pushed beyond the traditional limits of mainstream pop, hijacking it as a creative vehicle to liberate and deconstruct the cis-male form. Through a blend of hyper-masculine imagery, theatrical performance art and raw vulnerability, he transforms conventional pop spaces into radical environments for queer liberation. With a new generation of exciting pop artists such as Lady Gaga, Caroline Polachek, Slayyyter and Snow Strippers citing them as a major influence, the return of Fischerspooner with their relentless boundary pushing artistic aesthetic feels particularly apt.
